So it’s officially Summer! It’s time to get your sunglasses, shorts and skirts out. Summer officially starts today and that means that my #60DaysUntilSunshine fitness journey has come to an end. The big question is “Has CynTea made any progress in the last 60 days or not?” The answer is yes! I actually lost some weight even though that wasn’t my aim. Started the journey weighing 91 kg and now I weigh 89 kg. My aim was to reduce my body fat percentage by burning fat around my torso and build muscle in my legs. Even though I’ve made some progress, there’s still a lot of work to be done.
Week 7 & 8
My last two weeks of the fitness journey were much better than week 5 and 6. I’m back in the gym like I never left! So glad I’ve got my energy back; I’ve been squatting, deadlifting, doing HIIT cardio exercises and upper body exercises. My diet has definitely improved again but I won’t lie to you and say I haven’t indulged in a tub of Ben Jerry’s. I blame it on this hot sunny weather *hides face* lol. But I did compose myself and did not eat the whole tub of ice cream. Just had enough to cool me down since the temperature has been in the mid 20’s with barely any cool breeze.
Failing to prepare is preparing to fail!
The lesson I learnt in week 7 and 8 is failing to prepare is preparing to fail! Meal prepping for each day in the week makes it easier to stay away from unhealthy options. You’re less likely going to pick up a Snicker bar when you go to the corner shop or end up eating a double cheeseburger from McDonalds. Meal prepping does take some time to do but believe me when I say that you’re more likely to stick to your meals than eating junk food. Just give it a try!
In this hot weather, you’ll probably fancy going out for a drink and of course enjoy the sun in the park or whatever. This means that you’ll most probably eat out instead of eating the meals that have been prepared for the week. That’s absolutely fine but try and keep it as healthy as possible.
So let’s say you go to a Mexican restaurant like Chiquitos. Most people will end up eating a fajita with a portion of fries on the side but remember that they have healthy options available so try and stick to that. I know, it’s hard when you see everyone around you eating their sizzling fajita grill and burritos because it smells too good to resist, but be strong and fight the temptation. You can do it! If anything, why don’t you substitute the fries for a salad or sweet potato wedges (if it’s available) to make the meal a bit more health friendly?
That’s all folks!
It was a tough journey with quite a few bumps in the roads. The bumps were the illnesses and the holidays which interfered with my diet and gym schedule. Like I mentioned before, there’s still a lot of work to be done. Next time, I will take some pictures so you guys can actually see the physical changes week in and week out. Don’t worry, the gym is still going to be my friend even though the #60DaysUntilSunshine fitness journey has come to an end so look out for my blogs on fitness in the near future.
If you’re on a fitness journey yourself, I hope its going well for you. Don’t feel discouraged if you’ve only lost a few pounds or kilograms. That’s still progress! Don’t give up because your before and after picture looks nothing like the before and after pictures you see on Instagram. Everybody’s journey and body is different. Just focus on your own fitness journey and be consistent with it and you’ll start seeing results. So don’t give up on yourself! Keep going and one day you’ll get there. Hey, it might be sooner than you think.
Sugars and love,
