We did it! We’ve survived the first half of the year! I know some of you guys are thinking ‘We already crossed the border in June.’
Errm nar mate.. you didn’t. June is the sixth month in a year so you gotta get through June first in order for the half-year mark to count. Either way, we’re here now so that’s all that matters.

Most of you set your goals for 2018 around last year’s New Year’s Eve. That was quite a while ago so I hope you still remember them. Did you write them down by any chance? If the answer is no, I would definitely recommend writing them down and sticking it somewhere visible so it constantly reminds you to keep working towards them. You can stick it on your wall or make your phone home screen a list of your goals… Just make sure you look at your list at least once a day ‘cause this keeps you motivated.

Stop Procrastinating!

Anyways, back to the matter of discussion… What have you done or achieved so far in 2018? In fact, what has 2018 done for you lately *Janet Jackson’s voice*? Have you taken advantage of the opportunities that have come your way?
Sometimes laziness gets the best of us *sigh*. We then end up procrastinating working on our goals. I know, I’d rather watch TV or go to the beach on a hot sunny day but something’s gotta be done. I mean, will you be happy with yourself knowing that you didn’t try to work on some of your goals throughout the whole of 2018? Hmm, I don’t think so.
Don’t get me wrong, you can play hard as long as you work HARD. You gotta put the work in to make sure that each day you’re a step closer to reaching your goals.

Jump Over Your Hurdles

There will 100% be hurdles on your journey to success. The worst time a hurdle can appear is when you are close to reaching a goal. And that sh** is so annoying! You’ll most probably think of quitting right there and then. But darling… don’t fail this test ‘cause you’re bound to come across hurdles that will be a struggle to jump over. It’s all part of your journey to success. All the greats didn’t have a walk in the park before they became successful. Heck, even Usain Bolt didn’t have it easy before his career took off. But he kept going and so should you.

Keep Track Of Your Progress

If there’s any goal you’ve given up on this year, just think about why you made it a goal in the first place. You know why you want to achieve this so bad so just try again. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. Don’t forget to look back at each month to see how far you’ve come. If it’s a fitness goal you are trying to achieve, then take pictures each month to measure your progress. If your goal is to save more money, then look back at your bank statements each month to keep track of what you don’t need to spend any money on so you can save more money in the following month.

When you measure your progress, it makes you feel like you’re actually doing something. Remember, there’s nothing like small progress. Just keep pushing and you will be surprised by all the things you will achieve by the end of 2018.

  1. Oh man! I ‘forgot’ about my goals, but you’re absolutely right: I made them with a reason! This blogpost is the perfect reminder/motivator to get my butt from the coach and to finally start working on some of my goals!
