I’m sure we’ve all been guilty of sayingNew Year, New Me’Or if you haven’t said it out loud, I bet you’ve thought about making a change in your life. In this blog, I will give you two reasons that explain why this phrase isn’t as bad as you think.

When you think about this phrase, the first thing that probably runs through your mind is someone who says this every year without fail but NEVER changes for the better. But this saying is bigger than this… It’s not just about hitting the reset button when it hits 00:00 am on 1st January. It’s about learning from the mistakes you made last year so you don’t take the same L’s again in the new year. For those who don’t know, taking an L means taking a loss in something. Your L’s don’t have to be losses. They can be lessons if you actually take some time to reflect on your life and learn from them.

I know that there are a lot of people out there who love to complain about those who say New Year, New Me every year. I don’t know how you feel about this phrase but I personally don’t think that there’s anything wrong with saying New Year, New Me as long as you focus on bettering yourself. If you’re working on yourself, you would actually make some progress in life. New Year, New Me is about improving yourself so if you haven’t had the chance to write down your goals for the new year, then you definitely got some homework to do. Make a list of all your goals, smash them and let the success speak for itself. Your success will show people that you haven’t just been following a trend. You’re actually putting in work to better yourself.
So do yourself a favour today… Start working on improving yourself by resetting your life the right way so you don’t end up repeating the same mistakes on your journey to success.

This journey is not going to be easy. It’s not going to be a walk in the park. All the greats didn’t have a silver platter handed to them. There will be bumps in the road but you just have to find a way to drive over them without scratching your bumper. Just work towards being a new and improved version of you. Make this year better than 2017. You’ve got this in the bag!

Happy New Year!

  1. ?????? I totally get some people using this saying and doing absolutely nothing new lol. But I know for me this saying is relevant every year, every year I learn more about myself and use that to make some necessary changes in the new year. I think a fresh start to the new year is a good thing.

  2. So I have never had to actually use the saying for myself. I am normally an individual who works towards the goals that are set for that year kind of person. 2017 for me was an epic fail when it came to achieving my goals (I think only 10% was accomplished) – *sigh*.

Think I mentioned it in another platform. Same topic but thoughts and execution of the topic are so different. Lol.

I think the way I want to approach this year is to take on the advice I would have told my younger self and see how far it takes me.

Happy New Year by the way.
