My love life has felt like a long roller coaster ride for the past couple of years. One minute, things are going very well with a guy and then suddenly things change. Does this scenario ring a bell to you? It’s like the conversations become less. You stop receiving those ‘Good morning miss, I hope you slept well’ messages. Every morning, you still wake up eager to find out whether he messaged you overnight. You look at your phone and guess what… NO text and missed calls from him. To make things worse, he even read your message on WhatsApp but didn’t respond back. Things just don’t feel the same anymore… What Have I Done?         ‘Have I done something wrong?’ is probably the first thought that strikes your mind. ‘Hmmm maybe he’s busy’ is what you say to reassure yourself that you haven’t done anything wrong. Somehow you end up reminiscing about…

I remember how a lot of people frowned upon online dating in my teenage years. In those days, you would’ve been called a desperado for using dating apps. But what do you really know about dating as a teenager? I guess you’re just too young to understand… Even in this day and age, there are still a lot of people who frown upon online dating. If you’re on Tinder, people automatically assume you’re desperately looking to have a one night stand. If you’re on MatchMaker, you’re considered to be a hopeless romantic. So what do you call the people who have found love on social media? Isn’t sliding into the DMs a form of online dating? It Goes Down In The DM! I’m sure someone has slid into your DMs before or maybe you’re guilty of doing all the sliding. Either way, I know for a fact that you’ve thought about…

I’m sure we’ve all been guilty of saying ‘New Year, New Me’. Or if you haven’t said it out loud, I bet you’ve thought about making a change in your life. In this blog, I will give you two reasons that explain why this phrase isn’t as bad as you think. When you think about this phrase, the first thing that probably runs through your mind is someone who says this every year without fail but NEVER changes for the better. But this saying is bigger than this… It’s not just about hitting the reset button when it hits 00:00 am on 1st January. It’s about learning from the mistakes you made last year so you don’t take the same L’s again in the new year. For those who don’t know, taking an L means taking a loss in something. Your L’s don’t have to be losses. They can be lessons if you…

‘Tis the season to be jolly! I’ve got a lot of reasons to be jolly. December is my birthday month and Christmas is nearly here. What a time to be alive! Since we’re extra jolly this month, I just want to thank everyone who showed love and supported my blogs throughout the year. Thank you for liking, sharing, commenting and reading my blogs. It’s means a lot to me!  I’ve got a lot planned for 2018 so watch this space! Be prepared to be entertained! I also want to use this opportunity to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! If you have the opportunity to spend time with family during this festive period, make sure you take advantage of that! And most importantly, don’t forget to stuff your face in food and stay merry at all times! Sugars and love, CynTea x

When are we coming to eat Jollof? When are we going to cut a cake? These are the type of questions people bombard me with at family parties and in the church. As a Nigerian lady, I’ve noticed that if you’re in your mid 20’s and you’re not engaged or do not have a boyfriend, people will start being concerned. Read this in an African accent: ‘Ah ah, are you being too picky? Why don’t you have a boyfriend by now? Are you driving them away? It’s funny how they ask and accuse me of all these things. These are the same people that advised me to focus on getting a degree in university and not have a boyfriend because men are a distraction. So aunty, if I actually took your advice (not like it makes any difference to my current relationship status), how the hell am I supposed to be engaged right now lol? Why Is Everyone Playing Cupid?…

A lot of people don’t realise how much time they spend complaining about life. It could be about not having a car to get around or just when things in life don’t seem to go their way. Don’t get me wrong, we wouldn’t be humans if we didn’t complain at all. But ask yourself this question: ’Are you a part-time complainer or is this your full-time job?’ Life Doesn’t Need To Be A Bitch… I’m so glad I was able to fit a quick trip to the Netherlands to visit my friends and family before the end of 2017. It was nice seeing my loved ones. Especially one of my close friends, Emily, who hasn’t been well for the past four years. Earlier this year, the illness took over her body and she hasn’t been able to walk for months. I never saw this coming and was speechless when she…

The only thing that runs through your mind after a fresh break up is your ex bae (or in some cases bae). The reason I said bae is because some of us are or have been in traffic light relationships. You don’t know whether the red light is permanent or just holding up traffic for a while. The amber light might make you want to cross the road to make things work. Who knows, it might change back to a green light and this could be a temporary break up… But right now you’re hurting and feeling lovesick as literally everything around you is reminding you of your ex. From the T-shirt hanging in your wardrobe to your new phone case he bought you last week. How do you heal from this? In this blog, I’ll be touching on four ways that will help you get over your ex and heal from the…

When some people hear the word compromise, they literally jump into defense mood as if someone just threw a jab at them. I recently came across a few Instagram posts where some women were very much against compromising. They said that compromising is a no-no in a relationship as your partner should love you for who you are. How do you feel about this statement? Do you agree? So Why Do People HATE Compromising? I don’t actually think people have an issue with compromising. I think that compromising has been labelled as an issue depending on what’s being suggested to change or to happen. Let me paint the picture… A guy meets this very beautiful girl who wears make-up. Not too much make-up, but just enough foundation to cover the blemishes and a bit of mascara to make her eyes look alive. They end up dating for a while and things progress…

Is holding a grudge in our nature? Well, for some more than others… There are people who only stay angry for a couple of days. And there are people who can hold a grudge until their grave. Is it worth holding a grudge for that long though? Is It Worth Holding A Grudge? At some point in life, someone will offend you. This could be a friend, family member or even a stranger. It’s inevitable! Most of us choose to hold a grudge and don’t realise that holding a grudge ends up hurting you more than the person who offended you. You’re the one who gets worked up when you think about the situation or even when you hear the offender’s name! Some of us even forget why they fell out with an old friend but still hold a grudge because of “the principle”. The thing is there’s a principle in every situation.…

What’s the first thing you normally do after upsetting someone? Apologise? But what if your apology isn’t accepted; what do you do then? ‘Think before you speak’ is a very common quote that we all know but sometimes seem to forget. There can be times where the wrong words find their way in your mouth. Instead of thinking before you speak, you end up saying something offensive. You might not think you did any harm with what you said. But guess what, it can still be taken the wrong way which can lead to you hurting someone’s feelings. Is An Apology Enough? I’ve found myself in very crazy situation recently where I literally messed up. There’s no other way in putting this. I actually f*cked up… I said some stuff that wasn’t cool but didn’t think it would do any harm. What I said has cost me my best friend *sigh*. Should’ve known better…
