When you walk into a room full of people, you always notice someone looking at you. I guess it’s a normal reflex because we all look at the door when someone walks in. But there have been times when I’ve walked into a room and feel like people won’t stop staring at me. Especially when I’m wearing heels. It’s not just a normal stare, it’s a Woow she’s very tall! type of stare. Obviously like I said before, people will always stare but it’s the way you stare at people that can make someone feel uncomfortable.

Am I too tall to wear heels?

A couple of years ago, I went to a house party with a few friends. As we were walking in I heard a guy say “This girl is so tall, she’s actually taking the p*ss”. Everyone that heard him say that started staring at me. Some of them even started laughing. At that moment I felt very uncomfortable. The funny thing about the situation was that I wasn’t even wearing heels! My shoe game that night were Converses.

These type of statements can really throw someone off and make you feel uncomfortable. Silly thoughts started running through my mind. Am I unattractive because I am tall? Am I too tall to wear heels? After that situation, it took me some time to start wearing heels to parties. I ended up wearing sandals instead of heels because I didn’t want to look “too tall”. I wish I had a stronger mindset when I was younger to not care about other people’s opinions. If you find yourself thinking like this about your height or anything else that can make you feel insecure, stop it right now! These thoughts can damage your self-esteem and shouldn’t even be crossing your mind. Don’t let anybody put you down!

Heels are saucy!

As I got older, I started getting more comfortable wearing heels. Heels can really add some sauce to your outfit so don’t feel like you are too tall to wear them. When you wear your heels with confidence, people will notice it by coming up to you and shower you with compliments; “I wish I had your legs!” and “You have nice legs” are two statements that I’ve heard quite a lot.

“You look great in heels!”

About two years ago, I went to a party and mid-way through the night, I took my heels off. Two guys came up to me on separate occasions and asked me why I took my heels off. I was surprised because nobody had EVER asked me such a question before. Not even my girls ask me that lol! At that time, I was still a rookie when it came to wearing heels and I was not fully comfortable with wearing them because of being “extra tall”. I said to them: “I look too tall wearing these heels”.  One of the guys said that I should go back to the cloak room and put them back on lol. He also said something I would never forget: “You look really nice when you wear heels so you should not care about what anybody thinks about your height”. The other guy said “If a guy feels like you are too tall to wear heels, then he is intimidated by you and not man enough to have a beautiful girl like you”. I couldn’t stop blushing after that lol. Well, smiling more like because you can’t even see when I blush because of my complexion lol. But that really made me feel good about myself because they didn’t have to come up to me to say that. It really made my night.

Girl, just wear your heels!

The point I am trying to make with this short story is that this could be you getting all these nice and lovely compliments by wearing heels. Just take that leap and start wearing heels and rocking them like you just don’t care. Don’t be like me when I was younger and scared to wear heels. Don’t be afraid of people’s opinions about your height. You know that you look good in them and that’s all that matters. Just see it this way; you are going to look tall regardless. Heels on or off! There is nothing you can do about your height and you shouldn’t ever feel like you have to do anything to make yourself look shorter. Girl, even the doctor won’t be able to cut your legs any shorter! Just love yourself for how you look and who you are and embrace your beautiful height!

Sugars and love,
