“Wow, you’re so tall!”…..”Wait, how tall are you actually?”

These have got to be the most common phrases and questions that I hear over and over again. I’ve been stopped by strangers on the streets and random people at parties/shindigs just to answer questions about my height. Even Bossman in the corner shop has enquired about my height!

But, have you ever felt so uncomfortable about your height to the point where everywhere you go, you always “stand out”? Like literally! I can so relate to that. It’s so easy to spot me at events that I can’t even lie and say I wasn’t there lol.

Also, have you felt like “one of the guys” at school? The boys considered you as part of the Mandem even though you aren’t even a tomboy *sigh*.

A couple years ago when I was in college, many high street shops like Topshop did not have a tall section. It was hard finding jeans that were long enough in the women department. I ended up buying jeans from the male section in H&M and Primark *rolls eyes*. I just wanted to feel more like a girl. There were so many outfits I wanted to wear but they were either too short or too small and my hips did not lie either which just made the situation worseA combination of all these things used to really get to me but one day I just got over it.

I started appreciating myself for who I am and noticed that I attracted positivity by loving myself. I started receiving more compliments about my height. Lots of admirers would say to me, “You have nice long legs”. Shorter girls have been coming up to me saying how they wish they were as tall as me.

So if you are feeling down about being tall, I’m telling you to stop. Always look at the positive in any situation. Let me break it down to you; to be part of the Mandem has its advantages. Have you not noticed that the guys don’t take the mick out of you like most other girls? I still get this treatment up until today, so I guess it’s not that bad after all.

Another great thing is that most high street shops such as Topshop and New Look cater for us tall ladies and now have a tall section. Yaaay! This was so needed. Now you can wear playsuits that do not look like tight pyjamas with your bum cheeks on show lol. Life is good!

Being tall is beautiful! From when other girls come up to you to give you a compliment about your height clearly shows that YOU are beautiful. Don’t let anybody tell you otherwise and start embracing your beautiful tall height today.

Sugars and love,
